Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering(GATE) is an all India exam conducted for admission to post graduation programs. The total number of seats available in top institutions such as IITs , NITs are around 10,000 but the total applicants are 10 lakhs. The exam is conducted only once a year and if you don't do well you have to wait for one more year.
But in case of Graduate Record Examination(GRE), students can attempt the test any day in the year. If the students don't do well, then students can re-attempt the exam and improve the score.
